This manual will take you through product set-up, operation and key features as well as providing troubleshooting tips.

If you do not install and use in accordance with this guide (or the quick start guide) the warranty will be invalidated and Sandal Plc will not be liable for any damage or loss whatsoever, including indirect loss, damage to property or personal injury.
Please also do not leave packaging material lying around as children may be tempted to play with it, which could be dangerous.
Environment
This product is intended for domestic, commercial and light industrial use only and must only be used in dry areas indoors, and protected from moisture and water ingress. Please also read the Product Specification section in this guide for additional environmental considerations.
Nearby heat sources
Keep the product away from heat sources which can generate temperatures higher than the products operating temperature range, as specified in the Product Specification section.
Reliability
Your Energenie product relies on a good stable internet connection to function as intended. If the internet connection is poor, or at risk of dropping, or the product is out of range (over 30 m) from your MiHome Gateway, your device’s reliability will be impacted.
Interference from other radio transmitting products
Keep other electronic devices with radio transmitters, or appliances with motors, fans etc. away from the product; 1 metre separation distance is a general rule of thumb.
Disassembling the product
Other than to fit, remove or replace batteries, no part of the unit should be disassembled. The product does not contain any parts that can be serviced. If it arrives faulty or develops a fault while within warranty please return the product to where it was purchased from.

Getting Started
Prepare eTRV for installation
- Remove the battery cover ensuring the rubber washer is still on the screw.
- Insert the 2 AA batteries ensuring they are the correct orientation.
- Replace the battery cover, ensuring screw is not over tightened.
The indicator LED will begin to blink slowly red and the stem of the eTRV will retract. Once the stem has retracted the LED will flash briefly green then blink slowly orange indicating it is ready for installation.
Remove exiting TRV head
- Turn the TRV head anti clockwise to set heating to low.
- Hold the TRV head steady and unscrew the TRV’s base by turning it anticlockwise.
- Pull the TRV head off the valve.
Determining the Necessary Fittings
To fit your MiHome eTRV you will need to select the correct fittings for your radiator valve. Appendix A of this manual provides details of fittings for many common TRV heads. If you cannot find your valve in the appendix or are unsure please follow the steps below to determine the correct fittings.
Step 1 - Select the correct base ring
The accessory pack supplied provides 2 base rings. Try screwing each base ring onto the valve to establish which base ring to select. The correct base ring should fit easily.
NOTE: Do not try to force the base ring to screw onto the valve as this may damage the thread of the ring.
If neither base ring fits, the valve may require an additional bespoke adapter (see Appendix A).
Step 2 Measure the valve pin and select the remaining fittings
Measure the height of the pin on the valve, from the top of the thread, and compare to the table below to determine whether a spacer and pin extender is required.
If a pin extender is required it can be purchased separately or alternatively a 1p or 5p coin can be used.
Step 3 – Check the correct components have been selected
Place the eTRV (and if necessary, the spacer and/or pin extender/coin) on top of the valve. If a pin extender/coin is required it should be placed on top of the valve pin like shown. If using a coin apply a small drop of superglue to keep the coin in position.
If there is a space less than 1 mm between the top of the valve, (or spacer if used) and the eTRV, the correct components have been chosen.
Step 4 – Check Valve Fittings
- If using a spacer place it in the base ring.
- Next lower the eTRV into the base ring.
- Slot the base ring pegs into the base ring plain side up as shown.
Step 5 – Test the fit of the eTRV on the valve
Screw the base ring onto the valve until finger tight, you should feel some resistance when tightening just before the valve sits firmly. Do not over tighten.
Step 6 – If fit is good, turn the base ring pegs over
If the eTRV fits firmly to the valve unscrew the base ring and remove the mounting pegs. Turn the pegs over so that the wedges are visible and then reinsert them into the base ring.
If the eTRV does not fit firmly restart process at step 1.
Step 7 – Refit the eTRV to the radiator valve
Re-mount the eTRV (do not over tighten the base ring).
Step 8 – Finish Installation
Press and hold the button on the front of the eTRV until the LED changes from a slow orange flash to a slow red flash.
The eTRV will now auto complete the installation. When the LED stops flashing, the eTRV is ready to pair to the MIHO001 Gateway. If you have not already done so, set up your MiHome Gateway and add it to your MiHome account as shown in the User guide (found here).
Two options are available for pairing (and control) of your eTRV,
- MiHome app Set Up & Control using the MiHome App
- MiHome web portal using a web browser Set up & control using the MiHome Web Portal
Set Up & Control using the MiHome App
Pairing the eTRV to your MiHome Gateway
Step 1
Log into your MiHome account, open the app menu 
and select Add a new device.
Step 2
Select eTRV from the list of devices shown
Step 3
Select the Gateway you want to pair the eTRV to. If you have more than 1 Gateway installed, each will show in this screen.
Step 4
Select YES if you are happy that the eTRV fits the valve correctly.
Step 5
Press and hold the button on the front of the eTRV until the LED starts to flash (it will briefly flash green red).
Step 6
When the LED stops flashing tap the OK DONE button on the app.
Step 7
Give your eTRV a unique identifying name.
Step 8
Select GO TO DASHBOARD to complete the setup process.
Please note that the app will display Current Temperature as updating until it has synchronised with the MiHome server (can take up to 5 minutes), after which the temperature which is being sensed by the eTRV will display.
Operating your eTRV
Navigating the Dashboard
The dashboard is the place from where you operate your MiHome products when using the app. A full description of each of the areas is given in the MiHome Gateway (MIHO001) full user manual.
Device Menu
The eTRV has the following options to choose from, which are explained in detail in the next sections of this guide.
- Add/Remove from the favourites tab
- Adjust temperature
- Optimise warm up schedule
- Set programs (timers) for adjusting target temperature
- Setting triggers (applicable if you have devices from the MiHome sensors range)
- Name/change name for your device
- Follow the MiHome Smart Thermostat (where installed)
Add/Remove device from favourites tab
To add or remove a device from the favourites tab of the dashboard simply tap on the heart icon next to Favourite.
Temperature Control
You can adjust your radiator valve to maintain a temperature between 12℃ and 30℃.
To set the temperature on your eTRV. First select the device by tapping its device tile. This will open the device’s options page. You can then drag the slider left and right to change the target temperature.
Programmes
Programmes can be used to schedule specific times and days of the week when you want the eTRV to operate and are setup as follows:
Step 1
To setup a schedule tap on the Programmes option from the device menu.
Step 2
Select the time of the day, and the days of the week that you want your eTRV to respond, and then tap the tick at the top right of the app screen.
The programmes will be displayed on the next screen.
To add another timer tap the 
symbol at the top right of the screen.
To edit a timer tap the pink teardrop 
then the timers you want to change.
Save each change by tapping the 
before moving on.
To return to the device menu tap the arrow 
on the top left of the screen.
When you return to the Device menu you will see the number of ON and OFF timers that have been set.
Optimise Warm Up Schedule
When enabled by sliding the switch to the right, the MiHome system will learn how long it takes for the room to reach its target temperature. The eTRV will then automatically adjust the programmes you have set so that your room reaches the target temperature by the start times in your programmes.
Triggers
This section is applicable to MiHome accounts with ‘Monitor’ products installed.
Your MiHome eTRV supports the use of ‘Triggers’ which allows the eTRV to be activated to perform an action based on reports provided by other MiHome sensors or monitor devices.
For example if you have MiHome Smart Door/Window Open Sensors attached to windows in a room where an eTRV is installed you can use triggers to turn down your eTRV’s target temperature if the windows are opened.
To set a trigger you need to:
- Choose an action to be performed,
- Choose a device which will activate the trigger
- Choose an event which will cause the trigger to be activated
These steps are explained in detail below.
Step 1 Select Triggers from the device menu.
You will be provided with the 3 tiles for creating the first trigger.
Step 2 Set the action to occur
Tap Tile 1 to set a Target Temperature.
Note: The temperature can be set from 12℃ to 30℃
Step 3 Select the triggering device
Tap Tile 2 to select the device that will cause the trigger. This can be any of the Monitor or Monitor and Control products from the MiHome range. Any paired devices that can be used will be shown by name when this tile is selected.
Scroll/drag your finger down/up on the list of options until you find the desired triggering event.
Step 4 - Select the triggering event
Tap tile 3 to select the event that will activate the trigger. The options will vary based on the type of device that will be used to activate the trigger.
Specific device trigger events are shown below
MIHO032 PIR Sensor
The event options to activate the trigger are:
- Detects Motion,
- Detects no more Motion.
MIHO033 Open/Close Sensor
The event options to activate the trigger are:
- Sensor Open,
- Sensor Closed
Energy Monitoring Devices
The event options to activate the trigger are:
- Energy Usage Fall Below,
- Energy Usage Rise above.
The Current Usage can be set between 0W and 7200W (enter only the numerical digits, not the ‘W’)
Temperature Control Devices
The event options to activate the trigger are:
- Temperature Fall Below
- Temperature Rise above
The Target Temperature can be set between 12 ℃ to 30 ℃
Once happy with the trigger rule, select the tick to save and confirm
Creating additional Trigger Rules
Additional trigger rules can be created by tapping the and repeating the steps above.
Any number of trigger rules can be set for a device. In this way.
Editing Trigger
Tap the pink teardrop next to the trigger you wish to edit. You can now change any of the settings by tapping on the different tiles to make your changes.
Remember to tap the to save each edit.
Deleting Triggers
The steps to delete a trigger are different depending on whether using Android or iPhone as follows.
iOS: Hold and slide the trigger rule tile to the left.
Repeat step 3 for all Trigger rules you want to remove.
Android: Tap and hold the trigger that you wish to remove until the bin symbol 
appears top right of the screen, then tap on the bin symbol.
Repeat for all rules you wish to delete.
Rename your Device
To rename any device, open the device’s options menu and tap on the tile which displays the name of the device. You can then change the name in the next screen.
Following a MiHome Thermostat
You can set your eTRV to follow a MiHome Thermostat which provides the following advantages:
- Synchronised Temperature Control. eTRVs following the thermostat will mirror the Target Temperature set on the thermostat (i.e. the eTRV will automatically adjust to attain the target temperature of the thermostat).
- Synchronised Temperature Balance. When the temperature in any room containing an eTRV following the thermostat drops below the Target Temperature of the thermostat, the central heating will be turned On until the room is back up to temperature.

To set an eTRV to follow a MiHome Thermostat follow the below steps.
Step 1
Select Follow Thermostat from the device options page.
Step 2
Select from the list of available thermostats and confirm by selecting the that will appear at the top right of the screen.
Your eTRV will now follow the MIHO069 thermostat target temperature.
Group Creation and Control
All devices paired to your MiHome account are assigned to the My Devices Group by default which provides convenient group control of all paired switchable devices (e.g. adapters and light switches), so that you can switch them on and off with one command.
You may wish to create additional, smaller, groups to provide more control over specific types of devices, or by particular areas, such as all light switches in your house, or all adapters or all eTRV in a room etc.
Note: Group temperature control is only available through the MiHome Web Portal.
Creating a new group
Step 1
Open the app’s main menu by tapping the three horizontal bars at the top left of the dashboard.
Step 2
Select Manage groups from the menu.
Step 3
Select the symbol at the top right of the screen.
Step 4
Enter a name for the Group you are creating. Select the tick symbol at the top right of the screen to confirm.
Step 5
Select each device you wish to add to the group by selecting the symbol beside the name of the device. Once selected a tick will replace the symbol. When you have selected all devices to be added to the group, select the tick symbol at the top right of the screen to confirm your selection.
Step 6
Select either RETURN TO DASHBOARD or ADD ANOTHER GROUP to continue.
Set up & Control using the MiHome Web Portal
Pairing with your MiHome Gateway
Step1
Go to the MiHome Web portal (https://mihome4u.co.uk).
Step 2
Select the Login tab and enter your login Email address and Password.
Step 3
Once signed in, go to My Devices and select Pair New Device from the gateway dashboard.
Step 4
A new window will open showing images of each product that can be paired. Select the eTRV from the devices available and confirm by selecting the Pair Device button.
Step 5
A small pop-up window will appear which provides instructions to be followed.
Select the Start Pairing button on screen, then press and hold the grey button on the eTRV for 5 seconds until the LED above the button starts to blink. Successful pairing will be indicated by the LED making a rapid burst of flashes then it will go out.
Step 6
To give the eTRV a unique identifying name, select Manage on the device tile.
Step 7
Enter a new name in the Device Name box and confirm the new name by selecting the Update Device button.
Note: do not remove the tick mark from the Groups section
At this point your eTRV is paired to your MiHome account and ready to use.
Web Portal Control
Dashboard layout description
Each device tile provides information and control options specific to that device.
Temperature Control
Step 1
Select the SET button on the eTRV device tile.
Step 2
Drag the slider to the desired temperature (between 12 ℃ and 30 ℃). Select the Set Now button to Confirm.
Setting Timers
Timers are set on the same page as the temperature.
Step 1
Select the +Add Timer option on the page to add a blank timer.
Step 2
Enter a time (in 24 hour format) with a colon ( : ) between the hours and minutes
Step 3
Select the days you want the timer to trigger on by highlighting as necessary.
Step 4
Select the drop-down box next to the days and select Set target Temperature.
Step 5
Enter the target temperature you want for that time. Ensure that the temperature is set between 12℃ and 30℃ (temperature must by entered as a whole number and not include a decimal point).
Step 6
When happy with your timers, select Set Timers to confirm.
Group Creation and Control
Using the Web Portal, you will be able to create groups of eTRVs and set group target temperatures which will update all eTRVs that are part of the group at the same time.
Creating a new group
Step 1
Select the Groups tab from the top of the page.
Step 2
Select the Cre440pxate new group option below the group tiles to create a group. A new window will open.
Step 3
Name the group and confirm by selecting the Create Device Group button. You will be returned to the Groups tab.
Adding devices to the new Group
Step 1
Select My Devices at the top of the page to return to the dashboard.
Step 2
Select Manage from the device tile of an eTRV that you want to add to the group. This will open a new page containing details of the device selected.
Under the Groups section, select one or more tick box next to the groups you wish the eTRV to be part of.
Select the Update Subdevice button, which adds the eTRV to the group.
You will be returned to the My Devices tab.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 with each device you want added to the group.
Adjusting the target temperature of a Group
To adjust the target temperature of all Smart Radiators in a group simultaneously follow these steps:
Step 1
Go to the Groups tab
Step 2
Enter the new required group temperature in the appropriate Group Set Temperature field.
Note: The eTRVs can only be set between 12 ℃ and 30 ℃.
Step 3
Select SET to confirm the new temperature.
Note: Switching the Group On or Off has no affect on the operation of the eTRVs
Creating Group Timers
You can set multiple timers using Device Groups. This will allow you to alter the target temperature in all rooms containing eTRVs simultaneously, maintaining an even temperature throughout.
Step 1
Select the Groups tab.
Step 2
Select the Set Group Timers option.
Step 3
Select the +Add Timer option any number of times to create as many timers as you require.
Step 4
Ensure each timer has a trigger time and each day you wish for the trigger to occur is selected (will be highlighted green) before you choose Set Target Temperature from the drop down menu. When you select Set target temperature a further window will open that will allow you to give a target temperature between 12℃ and 30℃
Removing Group Timers
If you no longer require a Group Timers, it can be removed following the steps below.
Step 1
Select the Groups tab.
Step 2
Select the Set Group Timers option.
Step 3
Select the Remove option on every timer you wish to delete.
Step 4
Select the Set Timers button to confirm their removal.
Boiler Plus
The eTRV can be linked to a Thermostat on your account, allowing you to adjust the temperature in the whole house by adjusting the temperature on just the Thermostat. While eTRVs are following the thermostat, they will be able to call for heat whenever the temperature int he room they are fitted drops below the target temperature, allowing the Thermostat to heat the rooms only when necessary.

Voice Control

Un-pairing your eTRV
Mobile App
If you wish to un-pair your MiHome device, for example to move it to a new account, select the DEVICES tab then follow the steps below for the relevant phone type:
iOS
Tap and drag the device tile to the left then tap on DELETE.
Android
Tap and hold the device tile and then tap the symbol which appears in the top right of the screen.
Web portal
If you wish to un-pair your MiHome device, for example to move it to a new account, select the My Devices tab then follow the steps below:
Step 1
Select the x Unpair option on the device tile of the device you want to remove
Step 2
A pop-up window will appear. To confirm the device should be removed, select OK.
